Group Classes
Classes are held weekly throughout the Spring and Fall, following the Aledo ISD school calendar. The class size of five or less is perfect to foster friendships and keep instruction manageable. All supplies are included with tuition and skills are built upon weekly. Students will learn the basics of a sewing machine, including how to properly thread it and wind bobbin, while tackling a fun project.

What to expect
at The Sewcial
House
Classes will be in a small group format with no more than 5 students so that we can focus on individual skills while maintaining a group class dynamic. Sewing machines and essentials will be provided, all you have to do is show up!
The goal of the semester is to learn the basics of machine sewing, including: the machine itself, different stitches, threading, winding the bobbin and trouble shooting the machine. Their skills will advance weekly with projects of progressing difficulty. They will each have a mesh zippered bag for WIP's (Works In Progress) and a folder to store patterns and handouts.
My desire is to create confident sewists who can use a sewing machine to follow a basic sewing pattern and tackle any troubleshooting. Ideally, they will feel confident enough to take on new projects and learn independently after one semester.
Classes will be held at my home with each lesson being 45 minutes long: 40 min of instruction & sewing time and 5 min "clean up" at the end. We will follow the Aledo ISD calendar for breaks & snow days with a new schedule each Spring & Fall.
Students must be 8 years or older and able to sit for an engaging 45 minute class. One parent may accompany the student to the class to learn alongside, but the primary person practicing will be the enrolled student. No siblings or other children permitted during class time without special permission.
Classes need a minimum of 2 students; classes will be "closed" once 5 students are registered. Once a class is full, there will be a waitlist to join, and the family notified if an opening occurs. If there needs to be private instruction to catch up to where the class is, we can arrange that at $50/hour and this shouldn't take longer than 1-2 sessions.
Fees & Payments
​Payment will be requested via Venmo on the 15th of the month for $125, and rescheduled classes due to instructor sickness or inclement weather will be refunded at $40/class. Monthly fees are calculated at $40/class with 16 classes in a semester and split into 5 payments of $125. There is also a $25 supply fee at the start of the semester to ensure fabric, scissors, thread, etc is available for the students; this will also act as a deposit to secure the students spot at registration.

Unfortunately, due to the progressive nature of the classes, if you are sick or unable to attend one week, the lesson missed cannot be made up or refunded. I will do my best to help the student learn what was missed, but if it is a significant amount a private lesson may be necessary, at my private rate of $50/hour. If the instructor is sick or has to cancel class, the missed class will be refunded or credited out of tuition owed.
